About the name 'World Brain'.

After Diderot's 'Encyclopédie' from the 18th century, which was meant to contain and disseminate all the world's available knowledge, H.G. Wells imagined in his book 'World Brain' (1938) a machine-like brain, ¨that could help world citizens make the best use of universal information resources and make the best contribution to world peace.¨

And now, 87 years later this dream seems to become reality with AI-algorithms capable of including global information using the internet and rendering it through generative intelligent systems. OpenAI's Sam Altman explicitly mentions that current AI-efforts concern the building of a brain for the world.

A few citations:
“The problem of reshaping human affairs on a world-scale, this World problem, is drawing together an ever-increasing multitude of minds.”,  H.G Wells (1866 – 1946)
"We (the whole industry, not just OpenAI) are building a brain for the world. It will be extremely personalized and easy for everyone to use ...", Sam Altman, June 2025, https://blog.samaltman.com/the-gentle-singularity
